If you’re anything like me, when summer rolls around I tend to have less and less patience for completely styling out my hair. Between the humidity and the heat in general, styling it seems almost pointless since it will likely be put right up into a ponytail or bun anyway. Am I right? I have researched and tried so many products and tools to get the job done fast and effective, and so I decided to share My Easy To Follow Haircare Routine in a video and blog post for anyone who is looking for an easier way. If this sounds like something you need, then keep reading.

MY HAIRCARE SHOWER ROUTINE

In the shower I keep it simple when it comes to my hair. One of the products that I have found to be very effective for all hair types and literally my all time favorite is Paul Mitchell Lavender Mint Shampoo & Conditioner Duo. I have referred this to countless clients over the years and it definitely will not disappoint. Besides the relaxing and soothing fragrance, the hydration is one of the best I’ve felt. Is your hair super tangled when you get out of the shower? The Lavender Mint will help you out so much with this. In the shower I cleanse and condition using this product and leave a bit of conditioner in the hair when I rinse it out. This is what really helps with brushing out your hair. I promise you, you will love it.

STYLING PRODUCTS

Once my hair is brushed out and styled, I personally have found the combination of these two products to be the “Secret Sauce” combo for creating the finish I like, but also for extending my blowout for multiple days in a row. I mix a quarter size amount of Iles Formula Finishing Serum with a few drops of Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum. Even though they are both serums, I promise you they will not weigh down the hair or make it super oily. I usually keep the product off of my roots, unless you have coarse curly hair and then you can apply to the root area.

Once my hair is dry, I like to use a heat protection on the hair. Hair tends to take on enough stress from age, sun and other environmental pollutants, so using a product to prevent damage from heat tools is always important to me. I use Paul Mitchell Hot Off The Press for this. I like it because it is lightweight but very effective. Once I curl or smooth my hair, I finish using the Awapuhi Wild Ginger Shine Spray. I am absolutely obsessed with this product. It adds loads of shine but isn’t greasy and won’t weigh down your hair.

On days 2 and beyond, I alternate between Navy Haircare’s Sailor Talk and Dry Bar’s Detox Dry Shampoo. These are two dry shampoo’s that I have found that I really enjoy, so I bounce between the two.

WHAT I USE TO STYLE

For styling, I definitely have more tools than one person really needs, but that’s just because I’m in the industry. I’m also a “collector” of tools if you will. For at home everyday use, you don’t necessarily need all of the tools I’m using. In fact, you may already have some that do similar things that mine do. Specifically curling irons and flat irons. The two different hair dryers I use, I really love and use both of them all of the time. I begin using my Dyson Airwrap Complete for the smoothing portion and then I will switch to the Lange Round brush blow dryer for a bouncy blowout finish.

I personally don’t use the flat iron or curling iron on day one of a blowout, but I do use them all week long when I am trying to really extend the blow dry. I am attaching a video here of my morning haircare routine if you want to see exactly what I do.

I hope this helps you out if you have been struggling with your own personal haircare routine. I often tell my clients that if your not using the right tools and products at home, you won’t be able to create a salon worthy style. Invest small and slowly add in missing pieces to your hairstyling kit. Once you start using the right products and tools you will soon see that it makes a huge difference in the finished product.
