Going Grey Early...Why Does This Happen?

WHY DO SOME PEOPLE START TO GO GREY EARLY?

It seems the hair color trend for young fashionistas right now is grey or silver hair color.  Which I LOVE by the way, but what if your naturally going grey early, like in your 20’s?  Many clients ask me what causes a person to start going grey at an early age.  Many would say stress right?  Well that actually isn’t necessarily the case.  After doing a little research, i learned that going grey early can actually be due to a B12 deficiency, or even other health related factors.  A Physician could probably give more information on this topic.  Im glad i did my research so I can now respond with more information.

WHAT IF YOUR NOT TRYING TO BE A YOUNG FASHIONISTA?

If your desire is to cover up the grey, there are many options for you that you can ask your hairstylist for:

1.)  Semi-permanent or demi-permanent color: This is a great option for grey blending.  What does that mean exactly?  It means that a good amount of the grey will be covered, but you will still see a little grey.  This provides you with a more natural covered grey effect.  Plus, the color fades out gracefully so you won’t be stuck with a grey regrowth line that has to be covered every 3-4 weeks.

2.)  Highlights: Just like Semi and Demi permanent, Highlighting to cover grey provides a more natural effect and blends the grey without noticeable grow out lines.

3.)  Permanent color: If completely covering is what you fancy, go for permanent.  It will completely cover the grey.  However, more frequent salon visits will be necessary due to the regrowth being more visible.

4.)  Hair products: If your not interested in coloring you hair at all, you can opt for products sold to conceal the grey between washings.  On a budget, try Cover that Grey found at Sally’s Beauty Supply.  For a more professional quality product, I love Rita Hazan Touch Up Spray.  Check out the links below for more information on these products.
